There are sixteen clans on Felidae, and the Ruh clan owns more land than any of the other three clans combined. The Ruh Rainforest is primitive and almost completely unexplored. It occupies nearly one-sixth of the planet and can be viewed here as a dark green stretching across the lower half of the image. A miniscule portion is being harvested for medical research by the Chiasmii, with full permission of the Ruh clan. Other clans are not pleased with this though, and skirmishes between bordering clans have broken out within the last five years. Their society is largely feudal.
The Kin population is feline in appearance. They have cat-like irises, sharp teeth, and long canine teeth (fangs). Deadly claws hide beneath human-looking nails. They have downy skinfur over most of their bodies, with a texture like velvet. Males of the species have few if any rights, and are kept in seclusion once married. Due to dwindling birth rates, it is common for females to have more than one mate, and many often accept groups of males as breeders. Female breeders may be added to the family if no children are born within a few years time.
After the arrival of the Conqueror, Rheyn Destoiya in 4625, males left the planet by the thousands, seeking jobs and adventure. The Praetorian Guard is now almost entirely made up of Kin males, and is an elite squad assembled to enforce the Conqueror's will. They are fierce warriors and can rip apart the enemy with their bare hands -- or their teeth. Yet on Felidae, few males are permitted to bear the title "Warrior."
A Summerhouse
Most Kin homes are located in groups within walls, surrounding a larger manor house where the tzesar (leader) and her immediate family dwell. The breeder house is located in the rear. An arch near the entrance is notched and the ends straight, to welcome the honored dead of the clan, while the upswept horns on the rooftop are to prevent the spirits of those who died dishonorably from entering. The symbol is often repeated in windows or interior decorations.
This remote home located along the banks of the river is used for a family getaway, shared with other members of the clan. Each has assigned time periods when the home is vacant and may be used by the lesser tzesars for their households.
